Menu Ideas

Part of creating any unique experience includes adding your own special touches.  A one of a kind menu helps to set the tone for your event, and that begins with great ideas.  

We welcome the collaboration between your vision and our years of experience.  Together, we can design a custom menu, or if you prefer, you can choose from some of our tried and true dishes.  Either way, we know you will be pleased.

Russell’s is proud to announce that the Second Annual Family Vegetable Swap and Stone Soup Challenge for Charity was a success!

 

On September 9, swappers from all over town came out to share their harvest. What an amazing variety of homegrown veggies we had! 

Chefs Russell and Ben, along with Chef John from Tallulah's Catering created some amazing soups to benefit the West Hartford Food Pantry.  Bricco and Joey's Pizza Pie also donated some wonderful soups to be sold. 

We had some great music, provided by local music students and led by musician Jeff Howey. It really added to the atmosphere and was well - received.  Also on hand was a decorate your own cupcake station and a hot dog cart, donated by Carol Murdock of Classic Cakes.  The raffle table was a huge hit this year as well!  We had a large variety of items, all generously donated by local businesses.  We had lots of happy winners. 

Deputy Mayor Shari Cantor stopped by to say hi, and Barbara Roberts, volunteer Coordinator for the town, was on hand to answer questions about the Food Pantry. 

All told, we brought in $1188 for the Food Pantry - I know that they will put it to good use! Special thanks to all who donated their time and efforts, and to everyone who came out and supported the event.  We'll see you next year!

Sunday Brunch at the Grayson Room

Consider this...
 
Are you a meat-lover, looking for the ultimate dining experience?  Just need a great idea for date night?  What could be better than a share in a whole heritage Berkshire pig? Delicious, local, and sustainable! Chef Howard Shafer with  Chef Russell will procure a whole pig and guide you  through the process of turning it into tasty salty piggy parts.  
 
You will be invited into the kitchen for a butchering demonstration and then a hands-on class where you will make fresh sausage and start the curing process for bacon. Your custom package will then be processed and available for pickup when each cure is complete. 8 shares are required, so find some friends, or get your name on the list and we will do our best to create an "octet" for you!    

 
Price:   $200 per share to include 1/8 of a whole hog at approximately 200lbs hanging weight, yielding                           approximately 14 lbs of product per share*.  
              Add $70 per person for a private dinner in the Grayson Room after the                                                          demonstration, to include a four course dinner featuring meat from your own pork (wine, 20%                            service charge extra).   
 
*each pig is unique and yields vary. 
Below are estimated expected yields per 200 lb pig:
 
Boston roasts 8 lbs, sausage meat and fat 30 lbs, hams 36 lbs, smoked hocks 3 lbs, bacon 11lbs, baby back ribs 4.5 lbs, loin chops 12.5 lbs, tenderloins 2.5 lbs, country ribs 3 lbs, loin end roasts 7 lbs
